Where we Began

SamEster began in 1997 with a man in his pickup truck and a few boxes of welding electrodes. It is the determination of the owner Mike MacIntyre to be an independent welding and propane distributor that has kept the business going for all these years. SemEster’s vision was to be a premier supplier in the propane and welding equipment market. 

We focus on delivering a quality product and reliable service. The early days saw Mike working long hours, relying on his propane and welding equipment background to build his business. Mike was on his own until his customer base grew, and he could afford to bring on a driver and salesperson. 

The struggles of being a new supplier in the welding industry saw the small group of employees build and weld storage cages out of scrap metal and spray paint them to look further. Mike would say, “This is how we grow and use our resources.” This resourcefulness has lead to continued growth in the welding industry and enabled Samester to develop a name for themselves. 

The years have rolled by, and Samester finds itself a top independent welding supplier in the Greater Toronto Area. Today we have developed strong customer relations in the Gas Pipeline, Underground Tunneling, Construction, Mechanical Contractor, Custom Fabrication, Laser Cutting and Automotive market segments. 

The company continues to grow its business at its head office, nestled in the northwest corner of Whitchurch-Stouffville. SamEster looks to continue its service to our customers for many more years to come.
